LAN - A true Balance Legend!

Today, I come before you all with sad tidings.
I regret to inform you all that Lan aka Fredrik is no longer with us anymore.
He was found at peace at his country side cabbin on december the 23th.
Words can not express how we feel as a collective, nor can anything we say give comfort to his loved ones in this hour of sadness. As I was tasked, or took it upon me to write this post in his honor, I've done so knowingly, that I may never be able to fully express what this great guy, Mr Fredrik Johansson, meant to me or this guild as a whole.
Gather arround, and let me tell you his story, because it's going to be LANgendery.
Lan was one of the first members of Balance and can also be credited as one of the founding "fathers" of the guild. His heart always lied with his holy warrior, the paladin, a beacon of light much like he was in Balance himself. He always gave his best, and when others failed or felt that they had been doing something wrong, Lan was always there to push them with his positivsm and vigor. During the 8 years, that I got to know him, I never heard anyone in the guild or outside the guild even, that had anything remotely negative to say about him, because he was always the opposite of that, glad, humorous and above all, friendfull and loyal.

And as a true testament to his loyalty and his continued support of this guild, Lan became our site admin, always pursuing new upgrades and keeping this site in top mint condition. Even we the guild and the site became target for hackers and other malicious activites, Lan was always there with a bubble arround it, protecting it, making this site to never go offline.
Lan also spent countless of hours, through the years, making this guild smile and laugh by honoring us with awesome photoshopped pictures of guild members, calling it "Balance goes to Hollywood (Or Lan is a sick dude)". This was to be one of the most appreciated things one could ever do for his guild, and my signature picture is yet proof of his tireless work that he did.
He was the guy, that no matter when you called or whenever you mailed with a problem, he would always be there to help out to the best of his ability. And when that wasn't enough he'd call in backup and make sure that the job always got done. He was the guy that anyone would have wanted as a friend, and it is my personal honor of being one of his friends. This guild will never be the same without you. This guild will never forgot you Lan-man! Will never forget all the things you've done!

So I sit here in tears, saying my good byes hoping that wherever you are, you're watching our backs in Balance.
Good bye my friend, may you rest in peace....
To quote Ralph Emerson, "A friend may well be reckoned the masterpiece of nature."
And that is exactly what Lan was to us in Balance, a masterpiece and a true LEGEND OF BALANCE!!!

Really sad to hear he passed. Even though i did'nt talk much with Lan, the few moments i did were enough to get the picture of a friendly and helpfull guy.

Re: LAN - A true Balance Legend!
What can we say that has not been said so well said by Björn and many others on the guild forums.
Lan you were always there for others. Never complained and always went out of your way to be helpful. I only played with you a short while before you stopped. If one needed someone to do a dungeon you would always be in for it.
After you stop playing your dedication and service to others continued. Whenever one needed something relating the site done. The reply in gchat was just pm Lan via the site and he will get it sorted. And you did, time and time again. Whenever Balance downed a progression boss, you were one of the first the congratulate everyone. Your humility and kindness resonates true in everything you did. An example to us all.
I think with the evolution of Balance over the years, you represents why we all still play this game. It is because our friends and community. We have lost a cornerstone of this community and a very reliable friend in you.
Thank you for everything, Lan, and may you rest in peace.

Re: LAN - A true Balance Legend!
Frederik was one of the nicest people I knew through Balance, previous posts have said it all but he really would help if ever you asked and he certainly went out of his way to get things done.
This website has been through a number of revisions over the years, with two major graphical updates of which Lan was instrumental in helping finalize the designs and integrate all of the designs to the site. I probably spent a long time sorting stuff out for the site but it was nothing compared to how much effort Lan put in especially when you consider he stopped playing the game a long time ago.
The last time I spoke to Lan was the day before this happened and I said I was grateful for all the hard work he had put in over the years and the help he had given me with the guild. I'd like to reiterate that now and as said by many others, here and in the guild section of the forums, Lan will not be forgotten.
May he rest in peace.
Mark.

I am very sorry to hear this, my thoughts and condolences goes to his family and friends. I remember in the early days of Balance, when I was members, that Fredrik (Lan) was a great person that always keept the spirit up with his comments during instances and raids. It is so sad to hear this.
My brother Patrik (Vaan) also send his condolences.
May you rest in peace!
Regards
Kristoffer (Cynan)

Re: LAN - A true Balance Legend!
I just can't find my words. This really got me into tears.
23 December and everything.
But can't think of how the loss matters to us all now. Without knowing how he died, I'm sure Lans soul and his body was tired, felt life was over, on earth at least. I really wish he could rest in peace and continue his life at a place so much better than our planet.

Re: LAN - A true Balance Legend!
I heard about this from a friend and I just wanted to say that Lan was one of the first people I met in WoW and its thanks to him I joined the guild Saga who later became Balance. I have alot of memories from Lan, especially in vanilla WoW when we were leveling up to 60.
I will never forget how kindly he treat everyone and how he always was there for you if you needed help. For sure one of the nicest people that I met through WoW and other games.
Very sad news..

I'm in a state of chock, as I went to the site to reminisce - and then I see this. Nothing but good thoughts come to mind, when you think of Lan.
I had to pay my respect. R.I.P. friend.
Sincerely, Jaz aka Jimi.

Damn, after beeing so far from the game and the balance guild i just came back to see how you were doing and i just saw this, over 6 months later.. I'm really sorry to hear of this, Lan and I were good balance companions, sharing our favorit class and everything, always we would pick on each other while online.
I regret not having talked to him before this sad event and i will always remember my time shared in Balance in his company as some of the best hours spent in my youth.
Rest in Peace Lan, may the light keep your soul warm.
